6. Concentricity. The internal taper shall be concentric with the outside diameter within a tolerance of 0.002 inch total indicator reading at a 5 inch projection from the mouth of the socket.
7. Hardness. Unless otherwise specified (see ordering data), the hardness of the sockets shall be not less than Rockwell “C” 30 when tested in accordance with ASTM E 18.
8. Finish. The outside of the socket shall have a ground finish.
9. Identification marking. Each socket shall be permanently marked with the manufacturer’s name or trademark of such known character that the source of manufacturer may be identified. They shall also be permanently marked with the number of the taper hole.
Contractor certification. The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this description and conforms to the producers’ own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
Regulatory requirements. In accordance with section 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition Regulations, the Government’s policy is to acquire items composed of the highest percentage of covered materials practicable, consistent with maintaining a satisfactory level of competition, without adversely affecting performance requirements or exposing supplier’s employees to undue hazards from the recovered materials.
Environmental protection. During the manufacture of the sockets, materials hazardous to the ecological system as prohibited by the Federal, state, or local statutes in effect on the date of the contract shall not be used or emitted.
Preservation, packaging, packing, labeling, and marking. Preservation, packaging, packing, labeling, and marking shall be as specified in the contract or order.
