keyways specified in table IV in a 1020 steel square bar in not more than 5 minutes for size 1 or
6 minutes for size 2. Feed shall be manually accomplished. The total height from the mounting surface to the top surface shall not exceed 3-3/8 inches.
3.8.9 Grinding gage. A grinding gage (tooth stop rest) for milling cutters shall be universally adjustable and sufficiently rigid to provide accuracy in grinding cutters.
3.8.10 Diamond dresser. The diamond wheel dresser shall consist of a frame that can be clamped in a suitable position for dressing grinding wheels specified herein and a properly mounted industrial diamond. The diamond shall be free from faults that may affect the serviceability of the dresser. Diamonds shall be natural octahedron with not less than six cutting edges. Diamonds shall be at least 1/4 carat if the maximum size of the wheels furnished is 4 inches or less in diameter, at least 3/10 carat if the maximum size wheels furnished is 6 inches, and not less than
1/2 carat for 7 inch wheels.
3.8.11 Shop cabinet. A shop cabinet shall be provided of sufficient size, with brackets, clamps, and any other holding devices required to store the basic attachment and all specified and optional equipment, spare parts, and wrenches in an orderly manner. The cabinet shall be constructed so that the various stored parts will not be displaced by rough handling due to shipping. The cabinet shall be designed to provide easy access to its contents. It shall be adequate to protect all contents from air-blown metal chips, coolant, dirt, grease, and other contaminants encountered during machine shop operations.
3.9 Painting and finishing. Before painting, all surfaces shall be clean and be free of all foreign matter detrimental to painting. Unless otherwise specified (see 6.2), at least one coat of primer (or a phosphate or chromate base) and one coat of enamel or equivalent (for example, epoxy enamel) shall be applied.
3.10 Product identification. The attachments shall be marked for product identification in accordance with MIL-STD-130 and unless otherwise specified (see 6.2), shall include the national stock number.
3.11 Workmanship. Workmanship shall be of the quality necessary to produce complete attachments of good appearance with safe and efficient operating characteristics that are customarily found in high grade commercial items of a similar nature.
4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS
4.1 Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the acquisition order (see 6.2), the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the acquisition order (see 6.2), the contractor may use his own or any other facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the government. The government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to ensure supplies and services conform to the prescribed requirements.
