COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION SOCKET, TAPER, EXTENSION
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description for all federal agencies.
1. SCOPE. This commercial item description (CID) establishes the government acquisition requirements for extension sockets used to extend the length of a tapered-shank tool and to adapt tools having larger or smaller taper shanks to a machine spindle-nose tapered hole.
2. CLASSIFICATION. The tapers shall be of the sizes listed in table I. The size to be furnished shall be as specified (see 7.3(b)).
2.1 Taper sizes. The taper sizes listed in table I correspond to Morse taper sockets, hole and shank sizes.
