SOCKET, TAPER, REDUCING SLEEVE
(BROWN AND SHARPE TAPERS)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description in preference to Type III, Class 2, of A-A-51132.
Abstract. This description covers sockets with Brown and Sharpe Tapers which are used to adapt small taper shank tools to larger size spindles. The sockets shall be similar to figure 1.
Salient characteristics.
1. Materials. Materials used in the manufacture of the sockets shall be of a quality necessary to produce a product that conforms to the requirements specified herein.
2. Design. The sockets shall have a drift slot and tang. The dimensions of the internal taper and external taper shall conform to table A, of appendix to ANSI B5.10.
