COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
WHEEL, BUFFING (BUFFS), FULL DISC, CLOTH TYPE The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this
commercial item description for all federal agencies.
1. SCOPE. This commercial item description (CID) covers the requirements for full disc, cloth type, buffing wheels intended for use on automatic, semi-automatic, and hand-held machinery in the coloring, cutting, buffing, and finishing of metal and plastic surfaces.
2. CLASSIFICATION. The buffing wheels shall be of the following classes, styles, wheel diameters, and arbor hole diameters:
2.1 Class. The class to be furnished shall be as specified (see 7.3(b)).
Class 1 - Loose sewn
Class 2 - Spiral sewn
Class 3 - Concentric sewn
Class 4 - Bias-cut
2.2 Style. The style to be furnished shall be as specified (see 7.3(c)).
Style A - Muslin
Style B - Industrial cotton sheeting
Style C - Domet flannel
Style D - Canton flannel
Style E - Sisal with alternating cloth layers (available only for class 2)
