COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
TOOL HOLDERS, BORING TOOL AND BORING BAR, LATHE The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this
commercial item description for all federal agencies.
1. SCOPE. This commercial item description (CID) covers tool holders that are designed to hold and support boring tools and boring bars used on metalworking lathes.
2. CLASSIFICATION. The tool holders shall be of the following types, styles, and sizes.
2.1 Type. Type refers to the method the tool holder uses to mount the tool. The type shall be as specified (see 7.3(b)) and is described herein as follows:
Type I - shank mounted
Type II - t-slot mounted
2.2 Style. Style refers to the configuration of the tool holder. The style shall be as specified
(see 7.3(c)) and is described herein as follows:
Type I - style A - reversible (see table I) Type I - style B - clamp block (see table II) Type I - style C - split clamp (see table III)
Type II - style A - adjustable height (see table IV) Type II - style B - fixed height (see table V)
