COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION DOG, LATHE
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description for all federal agencies.
1. SCOPE. This commercial item description (CID) covers the requirements for standard and parallel clamp type lathe dogs. The lathe dogs are intended for use in a production environment, and suitable for driving cylindrical work pieces held between machine centers. Parallel clamp type lathe dogs shall be designed to hold hexagonal, square, or irregular shaped work pieces.
2. CLASSIFICATION. The lathe dogs shall be of the following types, classes, styles, and sizes. The type, class, style, and size to be furnished shall be as specified.
2.1 Type. (see 7.3(b)).
Type I - standard
Type II - parallel clamp
2.2 Class. (see 7.3(c)).
Class A, type I - straight tail Class B, type I - bent tail Class A, type II - bent tail
