SOCKET, TAPER, SLEEVE

The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description in preference to Type III, Class 3, of A-A-51132.
Abstract. This description covers reducing sockets designed to hold tools with broken tangs which have been flatted on the shank. The sockets shall be similar to figure 1.
Salient characteristics.
1. Material. Materials used in the manufacture of the sockets shall be of a quality necessary to produce a product that conforms to the requirements specified herein.
2. Design. The sockets shall have a drift slot and tang. The dimensions of the internal taper, external taper and diameter at gage line shall conform to the requirements for American National Standard Self Holding Tapers as described in ANSI B5.10.
