COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
HOLDER, TURNING TOOL, LATHE
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description in preference to the type I and type II tool holders covered by Federal Specification OO-h-581.
1. Scope
1.1 Scope. This description covers lathe turning tool holders of the standard commercial, heavy duty type which are used in a production environment.
1.2 Classification. Tool holders shall be of the following types, classes, styles, and the tool holder numbers listed in table I, II, and III. The type, classes, style, and tool number to be furnished shall be as specified (see 6.1).
Type I – Holder, turning tool, lathe, broached hole, or bit channel parallel to the base.
Class 1 – Straight shank (see table I).
Class 2 – Left-hand offset shank 34 degrees.
Style A – Rigid (single size) tool (see table I).
Style B – Multi-size tool (see table II).
Class 3 – Right-hand offset shank 43 degrees
Style A – Rigid (single size) tool (see table I).
Style B – Multi-size tool (see table II).
Type II – Holder, turning tool, lathe, broached hole, or bit channel tilted 14 degree from the base.
Class 1 - Straight shank (see table I).
Class 2 – Left-hand offset shank 34 degrees.
Style A – Rigid (single size) tool (see table III).
Style B – Multi-size tool (see table II).
